Commercial aviation

Above & Beyond

MD ONBOARD’s vertically-integrated commercial aviation capability offers the world’s airlines services that span the aerial journey, from preflight to inflight to post-flight, including advance fitness-to-fly determination; medical clearance authorization at the point of departure; expert inflight medical guidance; precise coordination with ground support; and robust post-flight reporting (data capture and events analysis); as well as crew training and kit review services.

Preflight Medical Advice

Get Cleared for Travel

MD ONBOARD automates and seamlessly streamlines, in whole or part, preflight processing of medical certificates—medical information and authorization forms (MEDIF/MEDA). This includes review and the making of informed recommendations to airline operations staff.

In addition to the logistical simplification of these labor-intensive, form-intensive protocols, preflight medical advice is a proactive service designed to obviate or reduce avoidable onboard medical events, diversions, and the onerous operational and economic drawbacks that result from them.

Passenger Fit-to-Fly

The Point Of Departure

As an added layer of proactive preflight clearance, MD ONBOARD offers 24/7/365 assistance to airlines in making rigorously informed fit-to-fly determinations for passengers and crew members at or near the point of departure/embarkation—including the provision of translation services via the teleconferencing platform. We work closely with clients to develop precise criteria and protocols to make on-the-spot boarding decisions that are compliant with airline crew policy, as well as ACAA and local regulations regarding the rights of passengers—carefully balancing those rights and regulations with the operational and business considerations of the air carriers.

Inflight Medical Advice and Assistance

From The Ground Up

MD ONBOARD’s core offer deploys the vast resources of its affiliated medical services delivery center and places them at the disposal of airborne crew members—over a robust virtual infrastructure—attending to passengers in acute physical distress in real time.

Our communication infrastructure supports multiple communication pathways to ensure clear, close, and continuous ground-to-air/air-to ground communication, including telephone, radio, SATCOM, and data services. We’re designed to elevate the airborne and remote standards of care to those on the ground.

Our paramedics and physicians represent diverse medical specialties to best address the diversity and particularity of onboard health events. And all of them are experienced telemedical specialists—focally trained in the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic counsel over the telemedical channel. This empowers them to expertly guide crews through appropriate protocols, form recommended courses of action, and help make informed decisions, including—crucially—on the need to divert or not.

Reporting, Analysis, Benchmarking

‘AI’ | Aviation Intelligence

MD ONBOARD is innovating the application of data analytics in the commercial aviation sector. Airline data collection, trend analysis, and prediction are critical to continuous process improvement and risk reduction. Increasingly augmented by the application of AI (artificial intelligence) and ML (machine learning) technology, these operations touch every aspect of our offer: positively impacting and shaping treatment protocols, training regimens, kit content and design, aggregate operational performance (diversions and their economic impacts), as well as industry standards and best practices—to say nothing of delivering excellent, sometimes life-saving onboard medical guidance.

Our client reporting portals include digital incident logs, periodic reports, trend reports, benchmarking comparisons, and a range of analytical filters to mine data for actionable insights that could improve performance and the quality of outcomes.

Medical Kit and Equipment Review

Well Equipped

MD ONBOARD reviews FAK, EMK and supplemental equipment on each aircraft type, providing recommendations for upgrades and additions to ensure kits are complete and up to regulatory compliance standards. This includes creating a process to upload and maintain the kit contents for access by our Emergency Response staff during service delivery.
