Business aviation

In The Business of Business Aviation

MD ONBOARD is a suite of next generation services that enables proactive risk mitigation and real-time incident management for business aviation owners/operators. Deploying state-of-the-art technology and a world-class medical team, we deliver expert advice, assistance and support. MD ONBOARD drives value across all phases of the end-to-end flight chain: preflight, inflight and post-flight.

The MD ONBOARD offer is designed to supplement, complement, and enhance—not replace—existing business aviation safety management processes. The core of the offer is assisting ground and aircrew (and coordination between them) to make sound decisions, based on the best available information, to effectively manage inflight medical events, and minimize or avoid unnecessary diversions, while maintaining a focus of safety and wellbeing.

Preflight medical advice

Getting Onboard

MD ONBOARD also offers business aviation clients 24/7 preflight medical assessment and advice to determine the ‘fitness-to-fly’ of both flight attendants and VIP business passengers, with the aim of averting preventable inflight emergencies and adverse events—and the potential need to divert. This service is provided in multiple defined languages, with the option of supplemental translator services, and is designed to ensure a flight experience that is ‘without turbulence.’

Flight attendant and crew training

Where Flight School and Med School Meet

MD ONBOARD offers in-person and e-training for business aviation pilots, flight attendants, and VIP passengers, delivered by expert ER and first response specialists, experienced in the telemedical modality. Instruction is fully compliant with EASA and FAA regulatory standards and is focused on teaching participants the necessary techniques to expertly manage inflight medical emergencies and adverse health events.

Training is precisely tailored to the owner/operator’s specific aircraft type and can be conducted either onboard the actual aircraft or at approved training centers, as appropriate. In addition to the certificate issued by MD ONBOARD, participants will receive certification from the American Heart Association or European Resuscitation Council.

Inflight medical advisory and ground coordination

From the Ground Up

MD ONBOARD’s full-service medical advice and support offering enables flight crew to contact our medical services delivery center via radio, telephone, SATCOM, or data services to seek real-time assistance in managing inflight medical events.

The MD ONBOARD medical team guides flight attendants through pre-determined protocols, formulates recommended courses of treatment, and provides a recommendation to the flight crew regarding the medical need to divert or not, and the most medically suitable diversion location based on the availability of appropriate medical facilities. This would be taken into consideration by the flight crew before a final decision is made.

In the event of diversion, MD ONBOARD coordinates with ground operations staff to arrange emergency medical services on arrival or other appropriate ground-based resources.
